Participants in FUTURA C always take part in a pair of workshops, attending one workshop in France and one in Germany. The two workshops complement each other thematically: one focuses on sustainability, the other on inclusion. This structure ensures that participants gain a holistic understanding of how to create cultural events that are both environmentally responsible and socially inclusive—while building strong cross-border connections with fellow professionals.
Workshop 1/2
Part of the »Soundcity Freiburg Festival«
#SOUNDCITYFREIBURG is the annual festival for subculture, club culture and pop culture – for, with and from Freiburg. The 15 to 20 programme events, taking place across various venues over a single weekend, combine high and low culture, disco and discourse, pop and politics. The interdisciplinary festival represents, strengthens and promotes the rich diversity of Freiburg’s subculture, club and pop culture.
Whatever the background, scale or theme of your event, there are practical solutions available to maximise its social and environmental impact. The Eco-Manifestations en Région Grand Est (EMeRGE) network will outline the key measures to take and provide information on the eco-events charter, a tool designed to support, assess and certify events in the region.
Eco-Manifestations Réseau en Grand Est – EMeRGE is a unique initiative in France. It brings together organisations committed to the ecological transition, which support event organisers in adopting eco-responsible practices. Across the region, regardless of the type or scale of the event (music festival, sports meet, village fair, etc.), everyone can now access an approach tailored to their specific context and showcase their commitments.
Anne-Laure PRUNIER is Development Manager. Coming from a scientific background, she worked for several years as a biology researcher before transitioning into the cultural sector. For 10 years, she worked within contemporary music networks on sound management, hearing health, and responsible practices. Since 2023, she has been leading the Eco-manifestation project at Jazzus – a cultural cooperative.
Workshop 2/2
Part of the »Sunnyside Festival«
Every autumn, the Sunnyside Festival in Reims establishes itself as the unmissable event dedicated to jazz and African-American music. Since its inception, the festival has focused on two key objectives: upholding core values and providing enjoyment for audiences of all kinds. Each year’s festival invites visitors to explore the rich musical diversity of jazz, soul, funk, blues, hip-hop and improvised music, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The goal of inclusion often still evokes a sense of being overwhelmed and various reservations. Yet the fewer barriers there are in people’s way, the more exuberantly they celebrate at a festival. That is why this workshop guides participants through a process of reflection:
What barriers does my festival present – both on stage and behind the scenes? How can we discuss these barriers within the team and with the wider public? By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to critically examine their structures for barriers and take away approaches that can trigger both short-term and long-term planning and changes. The aim is to reduce feelings of being overwhelmed and, through understanding, arrive at individual ideas and solutions.
Debo Oeming is a freelance cultural festival organiser and is completing a PhD in theatre studies on disability and sexuality in the arts. Debo has been part of the Lebenshilfe Kunst und Kultur team since 2024 and took over access management for their theatre festivals in 2026.
Lebenshilfe Kunst und Kultur gGmbH has been working successfully on inclusive cultural projects across Germany since 1997. Its theatre festivals provide a high-profile platform for the art of people with disabilities and, through various formats, explore artistically and socially relevant issues surrounding art, participation and the cultural sector.
To make FUTURA C accessible while supporting the long-term sustainability of the project, we work with a solidarity-based participation model.
You can choose the contribution level that best matches your financial situation (starting from 20€). All selected amounts help support the organisation of the workshops, accessibility measures, and sustainable travel within the project.
